Ear surgery covers two procedures. Otoplasty, or ear pinning, sets prominent ears closer to the head. Earlobe repair closes torn, stretched or gauged lobes. Both can be done on their own or together.

Ear surgery includes two options, each for a different part of the ear. Otoplasty works on the cartilage that gives the ear its shape and sets how far it sits from the head. Earlobe repair works only on the soft lobe at the bottom.
Many patients need just one. Some, such as adults with prominent ears and stretched piercings, choose to have both in a single visit.
Dr. Sood will examine both ears at consultation and recommend the right approach.

You may be a good candidate if your ears stick out or are uneven, or if your earlobes are torn, stretched or gauged.
If your question is not here, bring it to consultation. Nothing is too small to ask.
Ask Dr. SoodYes. The ear cartilage is held with permanent stitches, and a repaired lobe stays closed unless it is torn again.

Yes. Otoplasty and earlobe repair can be combined in one visit.
Otoplasty scars sit in the crease behind the ear. Earlobe repair leaves a fine line that usually fades well.
Otoplasty can be done from about age five. Adults can have it at any age.
