Fat transfer adds volume to the breasts using fat taken from another part of your body, such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs. It creates a modest, natural increase in size and shape with no implant, and it slims the area where the fat is taken from.
Fat is first removed by gentle liposuction from an area where you have some to spare. It is then purified so that only healthy fat cells remain, ready to be placed in the breast.
The fat is injected in many small amounts through tiny incisions, building volume in layers so it can establish a blood supply and survive in its new place. Some of the transferred fat is naturally absorbed over the first few months; what remains is permanent.
The result is soft and natural, with an increase of roughly a half to one cup size in a single session for most patients. Fat transfer can also be combined with a breast lift to restore both shape and fullness.
