Gynecomastia surgery, also called gynecomastia, treats enlarged breast tissue in men. It removes excess gland, fat and, when needed, skin to create a flatter, firmer chest contour.

Enlarged male breast tissue can come from hormone changes, weight change, certain medications or genetics. It often does not respond to diet or exercise, and many men avoid fitted shirts or taking off their shirt in public.
During surgery, firm gland tissue is removed through a small incision at the edge of the areola, and liposuction removes surrounding fat. If there is loose skin, it is also removed and the chest is tightened.
The result is a flatter, more defined chest. The areola can be made smaller or repositioned at the same time.

Gynecomastia surgery suits men with enlarged breast tissue that has not improved with diet or exercise. At consultation Dr. Sood examines the chest and explains what surgery can change.
If your question is not here, bring it to consultation. Nothing is too small to ask.

Removed tissue does not grow back. Significant weight gain, some medications or steroid use can cause new tissue to form.
Usually a small incision along the lower edge of the areola, plus tiny liposuction entry points. Longer scars are only needed when loose skin is removed.
Not usually. Liposuction removes fat, but the firm gland behind the nipple normally needs to be removed directly.
It is usually considered cosmetic. In some cases with documented symptoms it may be covered, and our team can help you check.
